World Maritime Day takes place on September 25, 2025 and every year on the last Thursday on September. The day had been initiated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and is thus an official day of the United Nations. World Maritime Day is observed since March 17 in 1978 to draw the public’s attention to the importance of maritime navigation according to global economics.
Maritime navigation enables people to transport goods over far distances using waterways and also to win under water resources. The IMO was founded in 1948 during an international conference in Geneva. It is a special organization of the United Nations, which among other things developed a large policy for maritime navigation. World Maritime Day also stands for safety on the ship and for sea traffic.
