World Habitat Day is celebrated on October 06, 2025. This day was officially designated by the United Nations and first celebrated in 1986. Since then it is observed annually on the first Monday of October throughout the world. The purpose of the World Habitat Day is to reflect on the state of all cities and towns and the basic human right to adequate shelter. It also aims to remind the world of its responsibility for the habitat of future generations. Each year there is a theme that is being celebrated, for example "Safer Cities" in 1998. Also, each year one host city is announced.
