Waterloo ceremony 2025

The Waterloo Ceremony is an annually held event which takes place on June 18, 2025. On this day the Duke of Wellington pays a symbolic rent on his residence, Stratfield Saye House in Hampshire, to the British Monarch. This house was given to Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, as he and his men returned victorious from the Battle at Waterloo, where he defeated Napoleon and ended an almost 23 years ongoing war in Europe. Therefore the ceremony is held every year at the anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.
