Waitangi Day 2025

In New Zealand Waitangi Day on February 06, 2025 is an annual national holiday. When February 6 falls on the weekend Waitangi Day is celebrated on the next Monday. Waitangi Day is the day to celebrate February 6 in 1840 when the Treaty of Waitangi was signed. This treaty actually is the official document of New Zealand’s founding. There are numerous festive events with music and dance taking place all over New Zealand on Waitangi Day. Within the ceremonies the New Zealand Navy is included by raising the New Zealand flag and also the Union Flag and White Ensign. It is a common custom to show native dance performances.
