The commemoration day for the victory over Japan takes place on August 15, 2025 and is called Shûsen Kinenbi in Japanese. This date commemorates the end of World War II: on August 15 in 1945 emperor Hirohito declared the Japanese capitulation, but the actual armistice had only been ordered on August 16 and the official document of capitulation had only been signed on September 2 in 1945. There is a national ceremony taking place in remembrance of the end of war in Japan on August 15 since 1963. This day is also recognized in other countries and called Remembrance of the end of War.
