United States National Maritime Day 2025

National Maritime Day is celebrated in the United States on May 22, 2025. It is an annually observed day to honor the American Marine and their contributions and as well as sacrifices for the country. Furthermore it is a day to recognize the importance of the whole maritime industry. National Maritime Day is observed in many different way. Sea Ports for example host open hours and special celebrations or people visit merchant marine memorials. The Date was chosen to recognize the first successful crossing of the Atlantic Ocean using steam propulsion. On May 22 the steamship Savannah crossed the Ocean on the way from the United States to England.
