Swiss National Day is a national holiday celebrated in Switzerland on August 01, 2025. This date goes back to the Federal Charter of 1291, which was dated at the beginning of August. Schools, banks and all businesses are closed on this holiday and the Public transportation runs only on a reduced schedule. Swiss National Day is only celebrated within the communities. The festivities comprise speeches given by prominent public persons from politics and culture, concerts and in the wealthy communities also fireworks. A special event takes place at the waterfall called Rhine Falls, which is illuminated on this special occasion.
