Gool Peran, which is Cornish for St Piran's Day takes place on March 05, 2025 and is the national day of Cornwall. It got its name from one of the patron saints of Cornwall, Saint Piran, who is also the patron saint of tin miners. St Piran’s Day is celebrated with exuberant parades and diverse festive social events. When St Piran’s Day was observed at the very beginning in the 18th century this day was only recognized by the tin minders of Cornwall. Since the 1950 the parties, processions and parades take place all over Cornwall, for example in Bodmin, London and St Ives. Also in Grass Valley, California, USA St Piran’s Day is celebrated by Cornish genealogy organizations. The Cornish are an ethic group located in Cornwall, Great Britain.
