On November 29. 2025 it's time to swing your partner and do-si-do, because it's Square Dance Day. Settlers from England, Ireland and Scotland brought the original form of Square Dance to the USA where it evolved to the today known and loved activity, especially in rural areas.
In the 17th-century square dance was also popular in England, France and throughout Europe. Today Square Dance is strongly associated with the USA. It is the designated state dance of 19 U. S. states. A Square Dance in its original form consists of four pairs of dancers who are arranged in a square, thus the name of the dance.
