In Tanzania Saba Saba Day is observed on July 07, 2025. This public holiday commemorates the founding of the Tanzanian political party, the Tanganyika African National Union (TANU), in 1954. This party struggled for independence until it was replaced with Chama Cha Mapinduzi in 1977. The day is called Saba Saba Day, as the Swahili word saba means seven and the date of the annual celebration is July 7 (seven seven). On this day, Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, which was first held in 1963 takes place, too.
