Papua New Guinea celebrates Repentance Day on August 26, 2025. It is a non-working holiday, proclaimed by the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill in 2011. There are prayer ceremonies held all over Papua New Guinea on Repentance Day. It is religious day to show repentance in front of god.
Many Christians in the country go to church on Repentance Day and pray, also ministers and church leaders. Other Christian nations celebrate Repentance Day, too, on different days, like Germany in November. In Papua New Guinea most of the people are Christians, but there are also other active religious minorities, such as Muslims.
