Powder Day is celebrated on March 04, 2025 and it is also known as Day of the Powder. It is annually celebrated in the southern Spanish village of Tolox, a southern Spanish small town on Shrove Tuesday. Powder Day is the culmination of the Tolox carnival. This local tradition involves the throwing of talcum powder at one another and is a hilarious event.
It always takes place before Ash Wednesday and so there is a certain connection between the religious messages that all people are nothing but dust. Another legend say that the joyful custom leads back to two bakery girls, one Moorish, one Christian, throwing flour at each other furiously as they were in love with the same boy. There is custom like that on Powder Day held in India called Holi, but there is no connection between the two.
