OneWebDay is observed on September 22, 2025. The day takes place annually in order to celebrate the Internet. It was created in 2006 by Susan P. Crawford, then board member of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and professor at the Cardozo School of Law. The purpose of OneWebDay is also to raise awareness of the importance of the open-networking principles.
In 2005, Crawford wrote in her blog, that OneWebDay should encourage people to wire villages, connect schools, and take action in their daily online activities. To celebrate the day, you can join or organize celebrations in your local area, teach others how to use the Internet, create new Internet based projects with others, or help make Internet available to all, for example by signing lists for free municipal Wi-Fi.
