National Organ Donor Day is observed on February 14, 2025. For some people an organ donor is the only way to survive and National Organ Donor Day is to encourage people to donate their organs and save life. But it is not all about organs: blood, platelet or tissue donors can save lifes, too. National Organ Donor Day is a motivation to let yourself get checked and see if you are a suitable donor.
If you make up a decision about what happens to your organs after you passed away and carry an organ donor card with you, you can help to save time for those who wait. It is surely not an easy decision but worth the issue. However, when you are a healthy person donating blood for example will not harm you and has nothing to do with the uncomfortable question about your own dead. National Organ Donor Day was designated by the US Department of Health and Human Service in 1998.
