In the United States (US) National Missing Children's Day is celebrated on May 25, 2025. The day has been commemorated annually in the US on May 25, since 1983, when it was first proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan. In the several years preceding the establishment of National Missing Children's day a series of high-profile missing-children cases made national headlines. National Missing Children's Day honors missing and abducted children while celebrating those who have been recovered. The date is the same date as International Missing Children's Day, which is observed worldwide and was launched in 1998.
