National Catfish Day is observed in the United States on June 25, 2025 and celebrates the value of farm-raised catfish. The day was initiated in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan who explained that farming of catfish creates affordable food on one side and a stable income for farmers on the other. Catfishes are a family of fishes native to North America, named after their prominent barbells which look like the cat whiskers. National Catfish Day can be observed by trying some delicious Catfish recipes, especially together with your family and friends.
