International Mother Language Day is celebrated on February 21, 2025. The UNESCO aimed to put a strong emphasis on the linguistic diversity on the earth and how it shapes cultural groups everywhere. Therefore they announced International Mother Language Day in 1999 and it got established in 2008, the International Year of Languages by the United Nations General Assembly. Any nation all over the world celebrates their own International Mother Language Day formed by their own culture. However it is a very important day in Bangladesh, where people with Language Martyr’s Day on the same date express their appreciation and value for their mother language.
