International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons is taking place on September 26, 2025 on a worldwide basis. This special day has been initiated by the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) as a consequence of the conference for nuclear disarmament on September 26 in 2013. The goals of this awareness day are to inform the population about the danger and the social and economic advantages of the total elimination of nuclear weapons.
With numerous events and demonstrations International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons is celebrated to raise awareness of the society and to reach nuclear disarmament. Many countries all over the world do still have nuclear weapons or are members of so called nuclear alliances. Also many of them follow long distance plans about modernizing their weapons.
