Hangul Day or as it also is called Hangeul Day is observed in South Korea on October 09, 2025 and commemorates the creation and proclamation of the Korean alphabet the so called Hangul. King Sejong of Korea was the force behind the establishment in 1926 and the proclamation of the alphabet in 1446. It was an easy to learn and use alternative to the existing Chinese writing. Hangul was very popular and increased the literacy rate of the Korean people. Hangul Day is also celebrated in North Korea, but on January 15. Although there are public festivities on Hangul Day, many Koreans use it to stay at home with their families.
