Elbe Day, which is also called East meets West Day, is observed April 25, 2025. It commemorates a historic event that took place at the German river Elbe near Berlin in April, 1945. Back then the Western Allied forces met the Eastern forces, although that had actually not been destined to happen. From that day on Nazi Germany and its troops had been split.
Anyway it was not only an important milestone on the Allies way to end World War II but also a significant incident concerning the relationship between the USA and the Soviet Union. A good way to celebrate Elbe Day is to get informed about World War II, by visiting a library, a museum or do some research on the internet. The day may not be confused with National East meets West Day, which is celebrated on the same day in the United States and has to do with sports.
