Constitution Memorial Day 2025

Constitution Memorial Day is celebrated on May 03, 2025 and is a national holiday in Japan. The date has been chosen in celebration of the promulgation of the 1947 Constitution of Japan. It is also a part of the Golden Week or GW, from April 29 to May 5 when a total of seven Japanese public holidays take place.

The Japanese Constitution is a document that proclaims human rights, democracy and the sovereignty with the people. There are military parades, speeches and other joyful patriotic events taking place on Constitution Memorial Day in Japan. The emphasize always lies on the value of democracy.
