Chimborazo Day is observed on June 03, 2025. The day celebrates the mountain, which represents the highest point on Earth: a inactive volcano. Its peak elevation is 20,548 ft (6,263 metres), and due to its location along the equatorial bulge, the mountains summit is the farthest point from the Earth's center, and therefore the spot on Earth that is closest to the moon. Even though Chimborazo is smaller than Mt. Everest, this fact makes it technically higher, sticking out into space about one and half miles more than Mt. Everest. Chimborazo is in the Cordillera Occidental of the Andes of central Ecuador. On Chimborazo Day, go ahead and read about the mountain or take a look at some pictures. Maybe you can even plan a trip to visit Ecuador.
