Cesar Chavez Day was proclaimed by the U.S. President Barack Obama in 2014 and is observed on March 31, 2025. It is a commemorative day in honor of the American labor leader and civil rights activist César Estrada Chávez. The day is a state holiday in California and an optional holiday in Colorado and Texas, but is also celebrated in other states like Michigan, New Mexico, Arizona and Nebraska. Cesar Chavez Day is celebrated with speeches by community leaders about the right values, but also schools arrange activities concerning Chavez’s life and work. Furthermore meetings are held by communities or businesses to honor Cesar Chavez.
