Anti-Fascist Struggle Day is observed in Croatia as national holiday on June 22, 2025 in commemoration of the uprising of anti-fascist Croatians against the German and Italian occupying forces in 1941. The uprising started on June 22, with the forming of the First Sisak Partisan Detachment, which initially consisted of about 77 members. During the World War II more than 500,000 Croatian citizens actively participated in the Partisan Squad. Celebrating this day the Croatians recognize their historical anti-fascist commitment and the many people who struggled in the fight for freedom.
