Alabama is a southeastern located state surrounded by Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi and Florida. It is the 30th-most extensive state of the USA with a total of about 52,419 sq mi. Alabama is also known under the names The Yellowhammer State, after the state bird, The Cotton State and The Heart of Dixie. Dixie is a historical term for the Southern United States, geographically located in the southeast of the United States.
