Veterans Day in Norway 2025

The Norwegians celebrate Veterans Day on May 08, 2025. Until 2011 the day was called Liberation Day, in commemoration of the liberation of Norway from the German occupation during World War II. Due to the declining number of veterans and in order to recognize the contribution of Norway’s veterans from World War II to today’s operations the day was renamed in Veterans Day. While the Government’s main event on Veterans Day takes place at Akershus Fortnress, there are ceremonies and festivities all around the country.
