National Veterans' Day in Finland is observed on April 27, 2025. Locally, the day is called kansallinen veteraanipäivä, and it is celebrated annually. It is a remembrance day for all the war veterans in Finland. On that day in 1945 the war of Lapland and the second world war ended in Finland, when the last German troops had retreated to Norway. The first National Veterans' Day in Finland took place in Lahti in 1987, as the state council already declared April 27 to be National Veterans' Day in 1986. Events to celebrate this day include ceremonies, as well as church services. Also flags are flying all over the country on that day to honor all military veterans.
