Mayflower Day is celebrated on September 16, 2025 and is a day to remember the crossing of English Separatists, also known as the Pilgrims, from Plymouth in England to the New World on September 16, 1620. The ship with round about 102 passengers and 30 crew members set sail to Virginia, USA.
Due to stormy weather and navigational errors the vessel actually dropped anchor in what today is known as Provincetown, Massachusetts. The New World was chosen as destination, because here the pilgrims had the chance to keep their religious freedom and continue using their native language, culture, and customs.
